It is my pleasure to welcome you as the Head of the Department of Bioscience and Biomedical Engineering (BSBME) at IIT Bhilai.Our department boasts a team of highly accomplished faculty members engaged in cutting-edge research across a wide range of impactful areas, including protein folding and stability, biophysics, bioinformatics, macromolecular simulations, infectious diseases, Alzheimer’s disease, tissue engineering, drug delivery, cancer biology, MRI and optical imaging, biomicrofluidics, artificial organs, artificial skin fabrication, drug diffusion through skin, targeted drug delivery, biosensors, lab-on-a-chip devices, blood flow in microchannels, and computational and systems biology. The department is equipped with state-of-the-art research facilities to support these endeavors.The interface between biology and engineering, as embodied in BSBME, represents one of the most exciting and rapidly advancing fields of the 21st century. We are committed to delivering world-class education through our M.Tech and Ph.D. programs while fostering cutting-edge research. Our goal is to train students to address real-world challenges in biomedical and biotechnological domains. The field offers tremendous career opportunities that are expected to grow significantly in the coming years, driven by the increasing focus on human health. Leading organizations in this space include Johnson & Johnson, Sun Pharma, Cipla, Syngene, GSK, and prominent medical technology and imaging companies such as Siemens and Philips.
